Favorite CD/Song

Many people have asked me which of my discs I like the most, or what my favorite song that I have ever written is.  They are extremely difficult questions to answer in that I feel people general think my answers are going to reflect what I think is my best song or disc, or what I think they would like the most.

Most of my songs that I would put on my “favorites list” in no way reflect how catchy I think they are, or how I think they will be received by others.  My favorites are songs that mean a lot to me, and are rarely based on whether they sound radio friendly or not.  For example, "Another Time" is one of my favorites due to the experience that I went through and that moment of time in my life when that song was born.  However, "Full" is one of my favorites due to the memories I have playing the song live at concerts and parties, and the atmosphere that it created when the crowd joined in.  On the other hand, "Blush" is at the top of my list due to the fun I had recording it, and because it turned out exactly how I heard it in my head.

The truth is, like many music fans, it is mostly the mood I am in at that moment that reflects what I would like to listen to the most.  I go through stages when one disc or song is more appealing than an other, but I can say the same when it comes to my other favorite bands, such as The Beatles, The Smiths, The Connells, and The Cure.

All of my songs have their own story.  Not the story they tell lyrically, but the story of their creation, both in the writing and recording of them.  Their stories continue to grow and take shape every time someone listens to them on disc or live, especially when he or she decides to sing along.

I hope that everyone who takes an interest in my music will find at least one song that relates with him or her in one way or another.  As I sing in "Purgatory," "All I want is to have my words connect to just one person’s life."  I think that is what every writer's goal is.

I hope YOU enjoy the music!!!
